It has been pointed out to me that I was somewhat vague previously about my invitation from International Pop Overthrow. The only question hanging over me is whether I will be going with a band or playing it acoustic. I am going either way. Actually, currently it will be, at the least, Chris and myself but hopefully I can piece together a full band with harmonies for the trip. This whole thing has revamped my plans for the CD, which, up until now had been a vague hope of releasing it by August. But now, I want to have it done before IPO, because if I can play the fest with a band, I feel fairly confident I can make some nice sales and get the word rolling with the pop-heads (a group of people second only to fans of the Indigo Girls in their fanaticism and loyalty, and I should be so lucky to be the beneficiary of something like that).

Which brings us to the final event to tell, and this post full circle. Rob got the gig with Josh’s label, and will be producing their new CD. He heads back up to New York on April 8. For two months. Let there be no confusion that I think this is great, and that Rob deserves to be treated like the world-class producer he is.

But I now have three weeks to finish the CD. Suddenly, like that. I’ll be in studio during the day Wednesday through Friday this week, more to come next week. I’m worried about songs suffering because things can’t be worked out in that time (one, “Jeff Lynne,” in particular, because a player we needed just had a baby, and won’t be available. How we’ll replace that part, which is absolutely necessary to the song, I have no idea). I’m in the strangest position of worrying about a CD I’ve been working on, on and off, for a year and a half being rushed.

And THAT said, I know his studio schedule was full when he first left for New York (having to cancel all of March), so I feel damn lucky that I’m the one he’s busting his ass to wrap up before he goes back.
